FTP(File Transfer Protocol) is a method to transfer the files on the internet. FTP account consists of a unique username and password which allows users to access the files of a website to an FTP server. Default port number of FTP which is 21, is reserved for TCP/IP networking to control the FTP server messages. FileZilla is a free FTP which supports Windows, Mac OS X, etc.

We need the following details to connect to FTP server.
FTP server address
The FTP address should be ftp://domain-name.com.
FTP username
It is the same as your system username. To find what your system username is,
- Login to your panel
- Go to Websites & Domains and click Web Hosting Access.
- You can find it under Username. You can change your system username if you want.
FTP password
It is the same as your system user password. If you do not know what your system user password, you can follow the below steps.
- Login to your panel.
- Go to Websites & Domains and click Web Hosting Access.
- You can reset the password under Password.
Steps to create an additional FTP account
Login to your Plesk panel.
- Go to Websites & Domains.
- Click FTP Access.
- Click Add FTP Account.
FTP account name
Choose a name according to your choice.
Home directory
Select the directory to which the user connects to the FTP account.
Hard disk quota
You can specify the disk quota in this section.
Read permission
Select the Read permission checkbox. To allow the users to view the contents of the home directory.
Write permission
Select the Write permission checkbox to allow the user to create, view, rename and delete directories in the home directory.
Then click ok.
